Why Blogging and Cooking Don't Mix

Yesterday, when D-boy and I were at the grocery store he spotted frozen, waffle cut, sweet potato fries. His eyes lit up. He absolutely loves sweet potatoes.

The ultimate french fry, he murmured reverently.

Of course I had to buy them for him.

So last night while BadDad grilled burgers on the patio, I popped the fries in the oven, made a salad, and decided to blog. There was just one problem with my plan...

I forgot to set the timer and quickly lost myself in the blogosphere.

My hubby came in, saw the potato carnage and declared, D-boy's going to freak out.

Luckily, our little guy is the forgiving sort. Undaunted by the sheer horror of the situation, he noticed that even the blackened fries still had some good parts. He set about pulling the burned bits off and dinner was saved. Crisis averted.

Still, I'll be leery evermore of blogging while cooking. They just don't mix.

  1. As you say, your little guy is the forgiving sort.
    Lucky you.

  3. This happens to me all the time!! LoL I severely need to invest in a kitchen timer for this reason!! I'm glad he can see the bright side of things though, I tend to get really irritated with myself and nothing makes me feel better about it LoL

    1. He might have reacted differently if they were all ruined. I breathed a sigh of relief that he saw the tray as half full of good fries!

  4. You have a little boy that obviously see the glass as half full or the burnt french fries as half perfectly cooked :)

    1. It's a gift of his. He also tends to see his toys as half picked up and his dinner as half done!

  6. Lol! It is so easy to get caught up in blogging. And yea even if I am not doing a thing, if I don't set a timer I will forget.

    1. I have to limit myself to certain times of day or I'd never get anything done.

  7. I come close to burned suppers and boil over all the time because I think it will be the perfect time to "just check" my favorite blogs.

    1. The temptation is just too much sometimes! I never realize how long it actually takes to just check in.

  8. This is totally the kind of thing that would happen to me. I can't cook and do ANYTHING else at the same time, because I hate cooking so I always FORGET that I'm cooking and get lost in whatever else I'm doing. In my case, cooking does not mix with blogging, eating, or talking on the phone (which is unfortunately because I really like all three of those things). Found your blog through Finding the Funny. Have a great day! :)

    1. Ironically, I really love cooking and am pretty good at it. I just completely lose track of time when I'm blogging.

  9. HAhaha! Too funny!
I often forget to eat while blogging, then wonder why I am STARVING later.
Glad your son was able to find some "good parts"! :-)

    1. I seem to go into a blogging zone and loose all track of time. I wish I'd forget to eat, but that's hard when my kids are always bugging me for food!
